Additional Product Information for Strong Glassboard Magnets
Magnetic Glassboards present unique challenges with regards to magnets. Magnetic Glassboard are constructed of a layer of glass (usually opaque) affixed using some type of adhesieve to a layer of sheet metal. It is the sheet metal on the back side of the glass that give the glass its magnetic properties. It isn't actually changing the properties of the glass, it is only allowing the magnet to "reach" through the glass to attract to the steel sheet metal.
Magnets often used for whiteboards utilize ceramic magnets (common black colored magnets) or even rubberized magnets (flexible type) don't have enough power to stick through the glassboards.
Amazing Magnets has created an extensive line of glassboard magnets that are designed specifically for working with magnetic glassboards. Depending on how much you want the magnets to hold onto the board you can purchase the appropriatly sized glassboard magnet. The table below is based on holding power for 8-1/2" x 11" letter paper and a 1/4" magnetic glassboard.
